What NetShort is and how it works

NetShort streams vertical short dramas made for phones. Its App Store description lists billionaire and CEO romance, werewolf and supernatural romance, revenge and family secrets, fantasy and time travel, and mystery and suspense. Episodes are a few minutes or less and end on a hook.

The app includes offline downloads for supported content, watch history, favourites, playback controls and filters. It runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 15.0 or later), Apple silicon Macs and Android (package com.netshort.abroad).

The model is the same one used across the category: open a series free, then continue with coins, a VIP pass or ads. Our overview of short drama apps like DramaBox shows how NetShort compares with ReelShort, ShortMax, GoodShort and others on seller, release date and paid options.

NetShort pricing: what VIP gets you

On the US App Store, NetShort's In-App Purchases section lists several Weekly VIP products at $5.99, $19.99, $24.99 and $29.99, plus a one-time purchase at $9.99. On Google Play, in-app items range from $0.49 to $299.99 per item. The tiers shown depend on your country and on offers inside the app.

According to the App Store description, VIP can include:

  • Ad-free viewing where available
  • HD playback for supported episodes
  • Offline downloads for supported content
  • Access to more episodes in selected series

The wording matters: "where available", "supported" and "selected series" mean VIP does not guarantee every episode or every feature. Check a series you actually want before buying a pass.

The subscription terms in the listing are standard for Apple billing. The charge is made to your App Store account, the pass renews automatically within the 24 hours before it expires, and it keeps renewing unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

For how coin and pass pricing works across short drama apps, see our guide to short drama app monetization.

Is NetShort legit and safe?

NetShort is published by a registered company and distributed through the official App Store and Google Play, with linked terms of service, a privacy policy and a recharge agreement. On that basis it is a legitimate app. Three points are worth knowing before you sign in or pay.

Privacy footprint. The App Store privacy label, which the developer self-reports, lists identifiers, usage data, diagnostics and other data as data that may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Data linked to you is used for third-party advertising, analytics, product personalisation and app functionality. That is a broader disclosure than some rivals make; GoodShort's label, for comparison, lists only identifiers for tracking. On iPhone you can refuse tracking under Settings, Privacy and Security, Tracking.

Support contact. The support email on NetShort's Google Play listing is a free webmail address rather than an address on the netshort.com domain. That is not a sign of fraud, but it is less formal than most publishers of this size, so keep payment receipts if you buy a pass.

Content rating. The App Store rates NetShort 13+, citing infrequent realistic violence and mature or suggestive themes, among other descriptors.

What recent reviews say

We read the 50 most recent US App Store reviews, posted on 24 and 25 September 2026. Almost all were five stars. The recurring comments were that the stories are catchy, that episodes feel short before a coin unlock is needed, and that ads can be watched to earn coins so viewers without money can keep watching.

A batch of recent reviews this uniformly positive tells you little about long-term billing or support. Before paying, also read the critical reviews in your own store, and search for how other users describe cancellations and refunds.

How to cancel NetShort VIP

Cancel where you paid; deleting the app does not stop a subscription.

  1. iPhone or iPad: Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions, NetShort, Cancel Subscription.
  2. Android: Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, NetShort, Cancel.

Do it at least 24 hours before the renewal date. For a charge you did not expect, use Apple's Report a Problem page or the Google Play refund request flow.

NetShort vs the alternatives

If NetShort's catalogue or pricing does not suit you, the closest alternatives use the same format: ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, GoodShort and DramaWave. The practical differences are catalogue language, how far the free episodes go and whether the app leads with coins or a pass. For the category leader's model in depth, see How Does ReelShort Make Money?.
